Murfreesboro Police responded to an odd call on Wednesday afternoon. Officers were dispatched to the Regal Inn on S. Church Street where a man was found to be bleeding heavily after getting stabbed in the leg.

The fiancé of 42-year old James Pirtle told police that he accidently stabbed himself. She stated, “James Pirtle had sat down on an open knife in the bed.” Police then observed Pirtle standing in the bathroom doorway, naked. He was “bleeding heavily” from the right leg. The man was quickly transported to St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro.

Detectives were called to the scene to further investigate the incident. The case was labeled as an accidental stabbing.
