58-Year old Joe Edward Ferguson of Murfreesboro who was arrested on a single charge of "Attempted First Degree Murder" in 2014 will appear in court next week to file a plea in Rutherford County.

When WGNS spoke to Ferguson in September of last year, he said he did not want to make a statement. However, he did say a man [ Bobby Hicks ], came at him with a knife and that was reportedly when the incident unfolded that led to the attempted murder charge.

A police report outlining the incident shows that the charge stems from an argument that occurred on Sept. 14, 2014. Hicks, 61, told police that during an argument Ferguson stabbed him with a knife and struck him in the head with a baseball bat. Hicks was transported to St. Thomas Rutherford and has since recovered.

Ferguson will appear in the courtroom of Judge Royce Taylor on Wednesday, March 25, 2014.
