Dan Whittle photo exhibit at Arts Center of Cannon County
May 25-June 30, 2012 Dan Whittle's photo art is on display at the Arts Center of Cannon County (1424 John Bragg Highway in neighboring Woodbury). Admission is free to the Marly Berger Gallery. This well known journalist-photographer-author has creative nature photos and captures life in action through the lens of his camera. Middle Half Marathon
Sat. (Oct. 13, 2012) 7AM 6th Annual Middle Half Marathon and Murph's Fun Run. The 13.1-mile course starts and stops at MTSU's Dean Hayes Track and Soccer Stadium and the course is around the beautiful flat and tree-lined Murfreesboro historic district. The Murfreesboro Half Marathon course has been certified as accurate in measurement according to the standards adopted by the USATF Road Running Technical Council. Nikki Giovanni: "Life in the Bottoms"
Tue (May 29, 2012) 5:30PM Renowned social activist and poet Nikki Giovanni will speak at New Vision Baptist Church (1750 N. Thompson Lane). "Life In The Bottoms" is the final part of MTSU's 2012 local history series. The evening begins with a barbecue dinner at 5:30PM. Then at 6:30PM oral history reports from the field school will be presented. Man Wanted for Questioning in Reported Shooting

A 30-year old man with drug convictions in Rutherford and Coffee Counties is now wanted in Nashville by Metro Police for questioning. Tommy Wilkerson the third allegedly shot an intruder that came into a home that he was in on Chester Avenue in Nashville on Thursday night. Wilkerson’s father told police that his son told him that he shot one of two intruders with a .22 rifle. Wilkerson is currently on parole and police say he allegedly left the scene after shooting the intruder. In the meantime, no shooting victim has been located, the reported intruders were gone when police arrived at the scene.
