A request for a new trial filed by Charles Godspower has been denied by the Tennessee Supreme Court. Godspower is the man who plead guilty to second degree murder and attempted first degree murder charges before Judge David Bragg in Rutherford County several years ago. Godspower was sentenced to serve concurrent sentences equaling 40.5-years behind bars, but later contended that the trial court erred by denying his motion to reduce his sentences.

Godspower shot and killed Briana Brown, the mother of his child and Browns mother Diana Glover. Brown was only 16-years old when she became involved in a romantic relationship with 32-year old Godspower.

On September 15, 2011, Brown sent Godspower a text asking for money to take their son to Holiday World. Godspower thought Brown aimed to take the child to the theme park with another man so he drove to the Smyrna address where Brown lived with her mother, Diana Glover and shot the mother in the garage. Brown escaped to her car as her mother laid on the floor of the garage, but Godspower fired four shots into the car hitting Brown twice. Brown died at the scene, but the mother (Diana Glover) survived.

Godspower later plead guilty in 2012 to the second degree murder and attempted murder case. The courts sentenced Brown to over 40-years behind bars and despite two appeal's, Godspower will remain behind bars during the entire term of the sentencing.

Godspower, who was born in 1972, will be 68-years of age when he is released from prison in March of 2041.
