An inmate who ran away from Bedford County Workhouse was quickly captured Friday.

Dominique Ridley ran into a residential area across from the workhouse about 1:30 p.m., Deputy Garcia Jordan's report said.

Officers were notified Ridley had entered a home on Tate Street. Shelbyville officer Bobby Peacock found Ridley's orange workhouse scrubs in a trash can outside the home, and Lt. Nikia Elliott, Lt. Kevin Roddy and Jordan discovered him hiding in a bedroom.

Ridley, who is charged with jail escape, admitted running but "could not give a clear reason as to why," Jordan said.

Arrest records show Ridley had been arrested on a charge of violation of probation Monday of last week. T-G files show Ridley was charged last summer for running from a police officer when being told to stop.
