Perhaps taking a cue from the highly successful Nashville Mayor’s Walk programs, Mayor Bragg announced Murfreesboro’s own version at the March 21st meeting of the Murfreesboro city council, which will feature both himself, as well as Rutherford County Mayor Ernest Burgess.  That event will take place April 6th at 8am, at Oakland Park.  The motion to adopt the heavily debated Greenways, Blueways and Bikeways Master Plan again narrowly passed by a 4 to 3 vote upon second reading, and 8 public hearings were scheduled, to annex and zone 1 acre along South Church Street and Joe B. Jackson Parkway, zone 1 acre along Irongate Boulevard, 15 acres along Memorial Boulevard, 21 acres along Robert Rose Drive, 6 acres along Hazelwood Street, 2 acres along Dill Lane, and to amend an application for 44 acres along Rucker Lane.  All of those meetings are scheduled for April 18th.  Finally, the Discovery Center gets a little help from the council; the center has received a grant to build an addition to the center, which will require additional property beyond what is included in the lease with the city.  The council agreed to permitting use of the property, without changing the terms of the center’s lease, for which they pay only $1 per year.
