Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue Department’s Districts 4 and 7 responded to a car fire next to the home located at 1710 Avon Road around 1:30 Friday afternoon. Spokesperson Ashley McDonald says this incident was unrelated to the early morning car fire which resulted in one arrest.

Crews arrived on scene to find a 1972 Cadillac Eldorado with heavy smoke exiting the engine compartment. When crews attempted to pull a line from the engine, they returned to find flames shooting from the car. They knocked it down quickly, but had to use a fan to remove smoke from the attic of the residence. The car sustained heavy fire damage to the engine compartment.
