Upon arrival, crews discovered heavy smoke and flames coming through the front of the home. According to Captain Robert Alsup, while conducting his initial 360 size up, he noticed smoke throughout the structure. Fortunately, no one was home at the time of the fire.

Several animals were recovered. Crews tried to revive them with pet rescue breathing masks, but were unsuccessful. A total of five small dogs, one cat, and one bird perished in the incident.

The house received heavy fire damage in the bedroom and smoke and water damage throughout. The residents will be displaced, but did not require assistance from the Red Cross.

According to Assistant Fire Marshal Clay Malone, the fire was ruled accidental and appears to be electrical in nature. It appears that the fire started in the front bedroom.
