Dan Whittle photo exhibit at Arts Center of Cannon County
May 25-June 30, 2012 Dan Whittle's photo art is on display at the Arts Center of Cannon County (1424 John Bragg Highway in neighboring Woodbury). Admission is free to the Marly Berger Gallery. This well known journalist-photographer-author has creative nature photos and captures life in action through the lens of his camera. Middle Half Marathon
Sat. (Oct. 13, 2012) 7AM 6th Annual Middle Half Marathon and Murph's Fun Run. The 13.1-mile course starts and stops at MTSU's Dean Hayes Track and Soccer Stadium and the course is around the beautiful flat and tree-lined Murfreesboro historic district. The Murfreesboro Half Marathon course has been certified as accurate in measurement according to the standards adopted by the USATF Road Running Technical Council. Nikki Giovanni: "Life in the Bottoms"
Tue (May 29, 2012) 5:30PM Renowned social activist and poet Nikki Giovanni will speak at New Vision Baptist Church (1750 N. Thompson Lane). "Life In The Bottoms" is the final part of MTSU's 2012 local history series. The evening begins with a barbecue dinner at 5:30PM. Then at 6:30PM oral history reports from the field school will be presented. The final results are in and three area Middle Schools are the recipeints of the Rutherford County Middle School All Sports Trophies, presented by Little Caesar's Pizza and WGNS Primetime Sports.

A close race for the overall sports trophy had Oakland and Siegel tied. Both were awarded the overall sports trophies.

The same was the case for the girls overall trophy. Siegel eeked out a one-point win over Oakland.

The boys race was not as close, with La Vergne Middle winning their first ever all sports trophy.

Again this year, Little Caesars and WGNS Primetime Sports are awarding a girls, a boys and an overall ALL SPORT TROPHY to middle schools. Points are awarded for places one through four in the regular season (including ties). The points will be awarded based on season ending record of teams combined. Points this year will be awarded for the champion and runner up in county tournaments / championship games. In tournaments/championships where there are consolation games, points will also be awarded for their third and fourth place finish in the tournament/championship. Points are awarded in football, girls and boys basketball, girls and boys soccer, softball, baseball and volleyball. A school gets four points for first, three points for second, two points for third and one point for fourth in each of the eight sports that all schools have. We will keep you updated on the contests on this website as each season finishes. The first points will be awarded when volleyball winds up in late September, girls soccer and football will soon follow. In the unlikely event there is a tie for any trophy, then additional trophies will be awarded.Questions, corrections or standings information can be e-mailed to bryan@goprimesports.com.
