REALTOR® Golf Scramble founder Bill Carey (left) and MTAR President Bill Parsley present a check to Kristie Ryan, Executive Director of the American Diabetes Association in Tennessee.

REALTOR Bill Carey coordinated a new fundraiser in 1976 to benefit the American Diabetes Association, among other local needs and requests. His new idea was to sponsor a one-day golf scramble on a warm June afternoon with fun and prizes for everyone and to raise money for great causes. Thirty-six years later, the Bill Carey REALTOR Golf Scramble has raised over $200,000 to help our community.

The proceeds for the Bill Carey REALTOR Golf Scramble are divided each year between the American Diabetes Association and the Middle Tennessee Association of REALTORS (MTAR) Scholarship Fund.

This year’s donation to the American Diabetes Association is $3033.17. A check was presented to ADA Executive Director Kristie Ryan by Mr. Carey and MTAR President Bill Parsley.

MTAR is a not-for-profit trade association serving over 1200 real estate professionals across the Middle Tennessee region. MTAR serves Bedford, Cannon, Coffee, Franklin, Grundy, Marion, Moore and Rutherford Counties in Tennessee. The mission of MTAR is to provide its members with state-of-the-art tools, training and support to ensure that all members have the ability to become ethical, professional and successful REALTORS.
