Middle Tennessee Electric appeared before the Murfreesboro Planning Commission on Wednesday night (5/21/14). The electric provider outlined a preliminary proposal for plans to build a new corporate campus.

Middle Tennessee Electric Membership Corp. wants to build on 149-acres in the area of Veterans Parkway in the Blackman Community. If the electric provider moves forward with plans, they will construct a corporate campus complete with trails, a pond and a pavilion on the property. Before that can happen, the city must annex the land into the city limits of Murfreesboro. The Murfreesboro Planning commission will meet for a public hearing on June 4th at which time more details of the Middle Tennessee Electric plans will be discussed(meeting in the City Hall at 7PM on 6/4/14).

The plans calls for construction to take place in four different phases of development near the Berkshire and Cloister subdivisions. The phases will take anywhere from 20 to 30-years to fully construct. In a sense, the campus will grow as the utility provider continues to grow with Middle Tennessee.
