Dan Whittle photo exhibit at Arts Center of Cannon County
May 25-June 30, 2012 Dan Whittle's photo art is on display at the Arts Center of Cannon County (1424 John Bragg Highway in neighboring Woodbury). Admission is free to the Marly Berger Gallery. This well known journalist-photographer-author has creative nature photos and captures life in action through the lens of his camera. Middle Half Marathon
Sat. (Oct. 13, 2012) 7AM 6th Annual Middle Half Marathon and Murph's Fun Run. The 13.1-mile course starts and stops at MTSU's Dean Hayes Track and Soccer Stadium and the course is around the beautiful flat and tree-lined Murfreesboro historic district. The Murfreesboro Half Marathon course has been certified as accurate in measurement according to the standards adopted by the USATF Road Running Technical Council. Nikki Giovanni: "Life in the Bottoms"
Tue (May 29, 2012) 5:30PM Renowned social activist and poet Nikki Giovanni will speak at New Vision Baptist Church (1750 N. Thompson Lane). "Life In The Bottoms" is the final part of MTSU's 2012 local history series. The evening begins with a barbecue dinner at 5:30PM. Then at 6:30PM oral history reports from the field school will be presented. Mother Charged With Public Intoxication and Child Neglect

A 28-year old Murfreesboro woman was arrested by police after allegedly trying to pick up her child from a daycare center while intoxicated. The incident unfolded at a day care facility on Cason Lane. The workers at the facility noted that Mary Johnson was acting strange and had fallen out of a chair. One worker took Johnson’s keys away from her and called police. Police arrived and determined that Johnson was likely intoxicated and therefore charged her with public intoxication. Johnson was also charged with child abuse / neglect due to her 2-year old being involved in the mishap. The Department of Children Services were notified.
