Before Emergency Medical Services supervisor Adam Rose goes to work, he prays for guidance.

He believes that guidance led him to a Rutherford County man whose motorcycle crashed in a secluded area of Bradyville Pike early Thursday morning.

Deputy Kendrell Roper identified the man as Paul Michael Moody, 62, of Readyville. Moody is in critical but stable condition today at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.

Rose, who commands the EMS' Special Operations Response Team, was searching for the missing motorcyclist with deputies from Rutherford and Cannon counties about 2 a.m. when he saw a driveway near a ditch with high weeds.

Something caught his eye in the dark. It was Moody's elbow.

"There was no doubt in my mind I was guided last night" to find the crash victim, Rose said Thursday.

Rose and SORT members Philip Nichols and Dallas McLemore and the EMS Heavy Rescue team responded to the search. Paramedics on the scene treated the lethargic patient while waiting for the ambulance.

EMS paramedics treated the motorcyclist while he was transported to St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital. He was later transferred to Vanderbilt.

Sheriff's Sgt. Tom Bunch said Moody's wife reported about 8:30 p.m. her husband didn't come home after work as scheduled. Emergency responders believed he may have crashed into a deep ditch along Bradyville Pike.

Dispatchers checked his phone that showed a location on Bradyville Pike near Cannon County. Deputies and paramedics were joined in the search by Moody's family and co-workers.

Rose said the co-workers helped locate the patient.

"It's a team effort from dispatcher to deputies to SORT to co-workers to EMS to nurses and doctors at hospital," Rose said.
