Complaints of motorcyclists' drag racing recklessly led to five drivers being cited Sunday night on Mona Road and Highway 542. Cpl. Mark Mack with the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office says six deputies observed various violations by motorcyclists. They were cited for drag racing. One of the motorcyclists was driving on a suspended license and two of the motorcyclists were driving without a motorcycle endorsement.

Deputies warned the motorcyclists if they are charged again and convicted, their motorcycles could be seized. The vehicle identification number was altered on one motorcycle.

Mack says after interviewing the operator of the bike, it was determined he was aware of the altercation and gave several different accounts of how he came into possession of the bike. Suspect Darren Shockley, 28, of Shearron Court was charged with driving a vehicle lacking a vehicle identification number.

Another motorcyclist fled from the scene and faces charges.
