Motorists: Places To Avoid This Coming Week

It's the rush to finish road projects, and Traffic Engineer Ram Balahandran warns where motorists need to avoid between now and August 23rd.

City Construction Projects

Joe B Jackson Pkwy Construction Project (I-24 and S Church Street)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday: 8:30 am to 4:00 pm: On Friday, the traffic will be switched to the north side on Joe B Jackson Pkwy between S Church Street and Parson Road. Sidewalk, driveway ramp, natural gas and asphalt binder work continues along Joe B Jackson Pkwy between Parson Road and S Church Street. There will be incidental lane closures traffic interruptions for stone and concrete deliveries between 7 am and 8 am. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

Veterans Pkwy aka Kimbro Road Widening Project (Barfield Road to Saint Andrews Drive)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday: 6:30 am to 4:30 pm: Placing base stone material on the south side of Veterans Pkwy out of traffic area. Utility pole installations, storm drain, curb and gutter work continues between Yeargan Rd and Cason Lane. There will beincidental lane closures and traffic interruptions (trucks entering and exiting the job site). Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Memorial Blvd Walmart Project (just north of Airport Road)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm: The Traffic Signal Contractor for the project will be installing traffic signal equipment on Memorial Blvd. There will be alternating lane closures northbound and southbound on Memorial Blvd at Airport Road. Traffic on Airport Road is shifted to the south side and the contractor will be working on the north side. Right turning lane work continues along Memorial Blvd. There will be lane closures and traffic interruptions. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

Bridge over Broad Street TDOT Project

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 8:00 pm to 5:00 am: There will be alternating lane closures on NW Broad Street,Ridgley Road and W College Street for underground utility crossings. There will be lane shifts and traffic interruptions. Broadmor Blvd is closed to traffic at Memorial Blvd for utility crossing construction work. Broadmor Blvd can still be accessed from NW Broad Street. W Lytle Street is also closed to traffic at NW Broad Street for construction work. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.

Innsbrooke Blvd Turn Lane Improvement Project

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm: The contractor for Kroger Development will be adding double left turn lane, median improvements, and traffic signal work at the intersection of Innsbrooke Blvd at S Church Street. There will be lane restrictions and traffic interruptions during construction. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

Memorial Blvd Mill and Overlay TDOT Project (between Byrd Ave and Thompson Lane/Compton Lane)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday: 8:00 pm to 5:00 am: Incidental pavement marking and concrete handicap ramp work continues along Memorial Blvd between Thompson Lane and Byrd Ave. There will be incidental lane closures and traffic interruptions. One lane will remain open in each direction on Memorial Blvd. Appropriate traffic controls and will be in place.

Southwest Force Main Project (W College Street/Old Nashville Highway)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday: Contractor for Water &Sewer Department will be installing force sewer main lines W College St between Thompson Lane and Garrison Dr. Garrison Drive at W College Street will be reduced to one lane with flagging operation. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

Ewing Blvd Sewer Force Main Project (between Crossway Ave and East Street)

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday: Contractor for Water &Sewer Department will be installing force sewer main lines on Ewing Blvd between Crossway Ave and East Street. Ewing Blvd will be closed to through traffic. Local residents will have access at all times. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

Water & Sewer Department Re-Use Water Line Repair Work (Medical Center Pkwy between NW Broad St and Jones Blvd)

Expected Lane Closures: Tuesday, August 19, 10:00 pm to 6:00 am: City Water & Sewer Department crews will be repairing a re-use water line on Medical Center Pkwy between NW Broad St and Jones Blvd. This section of Medical Center Pkwy will be closed to through traffic. Traffic from Memorial Blvd will be detoured onto Jones Blvd. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place. Local residents and businesses will have access to Medical Center Pkwy.

Private Development Sewer Tie-in Project (near Florence Road and Santana Street)

Expected Lane Closures: Tuesday through Friday: Contractor for a private development will be installing sewer lines on Santana Street near Florence Road. Santana Street will be reduced to one-lane flagging operation. Local residents will have access at all times. Appropriate traffic controls will be in-place.

Annual City Street Paving Project

Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM: City milling and paving crews will be working on the following streets: Expect lane shifts and traffic interruptions during these operations.

Woodlands St, Graybar Ave, Blair Dr, Hilldale Dr, Idlewood Dr, Kenneth Dr, Independence Way, Chesapeake Circle, Longmeadows Drive, New Castle Drive and Inverness Drive, Quail Chase Cove, Oakleigh Cove, Lawncrest, Valleywood Cove, Rolling Oak Cove and W Clark Blvd, Veterans Pkwy (aka Kimbro Road)
