At least three recent reports of counterfeit bills being passed at local businesses has been reported by Murfreesboro Police.

The owner of Emery's Fine Art Gallery called police Friday. He reported a former employee came into the Memorial Boulevard business and asked for five 20's in exchange for a 100-dollar bill. When he took the money to the bank for deposit, he was told it was fake.

While police are investigating that case and have a name to work with there, on Saturday, fake 20-dollar bills made their way through two separate Sonic restaurants.

Just before 1 in the afternoon, the South Church Street location manager reported a counterfeit 20 was passed. The store employee who took it from the customer reported the suspect was a black female with long dreadlocks and driving a silver four-door car.

A similar incident was reported at the Memorial Boulevard Sonic location just an hour and a half later. It's not known whether any of these cases are related.
