The Murfreesboro Symphony Orchestra's Masquerade Ball on Saturday evening (10/11/2014) at the Stones River Country Club was successful in attracting a new group who wanted to dance as well as its already strong backers of the orchestra.

MSO Board Chair Phil Barnett (left photo) told WGNS News . . .

The main ballroom at Stones River was decorated with the Mardi Gras theme. MSO volunteer supporters obviously had fun decorating, because no detail was overlooked. Especially the music seemed to draw a broader following to the symphony's gala.

Before dinner, the cocktail party provided live music by well known saxophone-clarinetist Ernest Newsom.

And after dinner, in the ballroom, Music City Swing provided favorites of the big band era. The food was superb with Cajun themed hors d'oeuvres before dinner, and a combination shrimp and steak served with wine for dinner.

And the pièce de résistance of the evening was a professional backdrop set-up on the first floor with Shacklett's Photography preserving the memory.

With a big smile and an arm full of Mardi Gras' beads, Barnett was the perfect host, circulating from table to table giving out beads and making everyone feel at home.
