Murfreesboro Fire and Rescue Department and Middle Tennessee State University will unveil the city's newest fire engine, complete with the university's logos and colors, at a brief ceremony at noon Saturday (April 16) before the Blue-White spring football game.

The new truck will become MFRD's Engine 3. The company, located on Mercury Boulevard, is the unit closest to the university's campus.

The truck will make its grand entrance just before noon. It will be parked in the Greenland Drive parking lot next to the Blue Raiders Athletic Association tailgate and near the Kennon Athletic Hall of Fame. A press conference will begin promptly at noon in front of the new fire truck. The Blue Raiders cheerleaders and the university's mascot, Lightning, will pose with fans for pictures and will hand out posters.

"We are very proud to have Middle Tennessee State University in our city, and excited to increase the partnership between the university and the city as a whole," said Fire Rescue Chief Mark Foulks. "Displaying the university logos on our apparatus that responds to MTSU is a great way for us to show that MFRD is True Blue."

The Blue Raider Athletic Association and the university's Office of Alumni Relations will host a Tailgate from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the Greenland Lawn prior to the game. Food and beverages will be provided; $5 reserves a spot at the tailgate. Reservations can be made by calling 615-898-5260.

After the tailgate, the Middle Tennessee football team will conclude spring drills with the annual Blue-White Spring Game presented by Kroger. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Floyd Stadium and admission is free. Fans can go to the field following the game for player and coach autographs.

"Saturday will be a great day for the Middle Tennessee community to come out and show their True Blue support of our university and our football team," said Danielle Mayeaux, assistant athletics director for marketing.
