(Murfreesboro - UPDATE) A total of 7 people were arrested at a club located at 527 West Main Street in Murfreesboro on Sunday morning and charged with disorderly conduct.  Of the men arrested, 5 were current or former MTSU Football players and one was an Oakland senior boys basketball player.

The suspects ranged in age from 18 to 23. All 7 were caught fighting in and outside the club. The complainant who called in the disturbance described the scene at the club as “chaos.” One officer wrote in a report, “I observed several fights going on between several individuals.”  It took over 10 Murfreesboro Police officers, State Troopers and Rutherford County Sheriff Deputies to calm the situation and make the arrests on Sunday morning at 1:30.

All 7 suspects in the case from this past Sunday (2/17/13) will appear in court during the months of March and April.

Few problems in the past for Blue Raiders:

MTSU has not had many disciplinary problems in the past with student athletes, so this latest report of arrests comes as a surprise to most Blue Raider fans.

In February of 2012, 22-year old Preston Bailey was charged with selling drugs from his off-campus apartment. Although not a member of the team in 2012, he did play in 17 games in 2010 and 2011. In that case, officers say that Bailey admitted to using his MTSU scholarship money to set-up and help fund an illegal drug operation. Head football coach Rick Stockstill stated in 2012, “If you make good choices, you will get good results. And if you make bad choices, then you will have bad results.”

The two Manchester residents were each charged with domestic assault, resisting arrest and public intoxication. Around the same time a third suspect was charged with indecent exposure and public intoxication. Police evidently caught that man urinating in public view while intoxicated.
