Eight days after the lifeless body of Heather Maples was discovered in her apartment, Murfreesboro police homicide detectives obtained an arrest warrant and charged Brandon Richmond Bowling with first degree murder.

Just before 3:00 o'clock Saturday morning (8/15/2015), the suspect was taken into custody at unit 822 of a multi-family complex on 810 Bradyville Pike. Bowling has been booked into the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center. The arrest came only eight days before the young woman would have celebrated her 23rd birthday.

As you recall from earlier reports on NewsRadio WGNS, police were called to apartment 222 at 910 Brown Drive around 9:00 o'clock Friday morning, August 7th. They found the body of 22-year old Heather Nicole Maples.

It was apparent to responding officers that a homicide had occurred. In fact, Sergeant Kyle Evans told NewsRadio WGNS, "We believe that this was not a random act of violence and that the victim knew the suspect."

Maples lived in Murfreesboro, but was originally from Mesquite, Texas.

The investigation showed that Heather Maples was at Gentleman Jim's Bar on Greenland Drive around 10:00 to midnight on Thursday night August 6, 2015. She then left and went to The Handlebar on East Main Street until 12:45 early Friday morning (8/7/2015). She then returned to Gentleman Jims and stayed until 2:00 o'clock before returning to her apartment at 910 Brown Drive.

Again, Murfreesboro Police booked Brandon Richmond Bowling (BELOW) around 3:00 o'clock early this Saturday morning (8/15/2015) on charges of first degree murder. NewsRadio WGNS will keep you informed.
