Barbeque is great. Barbequing with a purpose is better. The Murfreesboro Breakfast Rotary's Backyard BBQ Festival, which brought the delectable tastes and smells of a barbeque to Cannonsburgh in April, also raised $8,784 dollars to benefit The Fisher House.

The money raised from the festival goes directly back into the community through The Fisher House at the Alvin C. York Veterans Center. The Fisher House program is a unique private-public partnership that supports America's military in their time of need by providing "a home away from home" atmosphere for families of patients receiving medical care at the Alvin C. York VA Medical Center and/or the Nashville VA Hospital.

"The BBQ fest is more than delicious food, enjoyable entertainment, and pleasant smells. It's a chance for the community to come together and have a great time while giving back to the place they call home," said David Spivey, Breakfast Rotary Club Past-President. "I speak on behalf of all Breakfast Rotary members when I say we love BBQ and we love this community, so why not celebrate both?"

Sponsors are already signing on for the 2016 festival. With nearly 10,000 people in attendance, the festival is a great opportunity for local businesses to show their community support, and their community spirit.

The Murfreesboro Breakfast Rotary Club has a well-established tradition of distributing funds to support organizations in the community with missions to enhance the lives and wellbeing of those in need.

Members of the community are invited to attend the Club's weekly meetings on Thursday's at 6:45 in the morning at the Stones River Country Club.
