Murfreesboro Citizens Academy taking applications now

The 2015 Murfreesboro Citizens Academy is taking applications for an exciting, interactive seven-session series on Municipal government. The Academy begins Monday, February 2, 2015 and runs through Monday, March 23, 2015 at City Hall.

"If you're curious about how the City of Murfreesboro government works and want a behind-the-scenes look at everything from the Police and Fire departments, CityTV, land use planning, and wastewater treatment, the Citizens Academy is the place for you," said City Manager Rob Lyons.

Beginning Monday, February 2, 2015 through Monday, March 23, 2015, the Murfreesboro Citizens Academy will meet weekly on Monday evenings from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The cost of the Citizens Academy is $25.00. Classes will be held in City Hall at 111 W. Vine Street unless otherwise indicated.

Class size is limited, and applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. The class is open to all City residents, City employees, and people who may not live in the City of Murfreesboro but work or own property in the City. Class participants will be expected to attend at least one City Council meeting during the two months the Citizens Academy is scheduled and may only miss one class in order to graduate.
