Founded in 1964, the Tennessee City Management Association (TCMA) is a professional association of 160 appointed city and town managers, administrators and their principal assistants serving in 78 local governments across the State of Tennessee. In addition, representatives of the University of Tennessee Municipal Technical Advisory Service (UT-MTAS), the agency that provides technical assistance to cities and towns across the State, are agency members of TCMA http://www.tncma.org/.

TCMA believes cities and towns in Tennessee operate best in a system where qualified, trained professional managers work together with local elected officials to accomplish community goal and objectives. TCMA provides professional development opportunities for its members through educational conferences and the timely transfer of knowledge, information, data and the best municipal government practices to its members.

In 2017, the TML Conference will be held in Murfreesboro.
