Government Policies

Murfreesboro City Schools Director Dr. Linda Gilbert talks about changes being considered by the general assembly. She notes that improvements are being considered, but it is important for legislators to communicate with educators when making these decisions.

City "Educators of the Year"

The Murfreesboro City School's EDUCATORS OF THE YEAR share their experiences: Hobgood Elementary first grade teacher Martin Ridgley and Reeves Rogers PE Teacher Dr. Susan Heiser.

They tell how cross-training helps today's students learn more. For example, math classes are reinforced when the students go to PE and do match problems to exercise techniques. This is called "Brain Based PE Classes" and is being studied across the nation.

In addition, the city school system works closely with Middle Tennessee State University and helps teachers in training get real life learning experiences.
