Falling victim to a scam is easy to do especially when emotions are involved.

A 62-year old Murfreesboro woman received a phone call from a man claiming to be Benjamin Foxx with the Rutherford County Courts. The man told the mother that her daughter would be arrested if she did not pay a fine over the phone. The victim fell for the scheme and paid the man $285 via her bank account.

WGNS called the phone number (615-334-0579) and this is what we got...

No matter how many digits we pushed, we could not get through to a live person.

At this point, an arrest has not been made as the subject behind the scam has not been named.
