While we typically do not give details of attempted suicide incidents, we did want to highlight a recent call that unfolded in Murfreesboro.

MPD Officer S. Jackson responded to an address on South Rutherford Boulevard to investigate a case involving a stolen cell phone. Once at the apartment in question, Officer Jackson made contact with a 20-year old who reported that her phone had been stolen. After the woman signed off on the police report, she went to the restroom. The officer reported that she was in the bathroom for about 90-seconds when he heard unusual noises coming from the room. He knocked on the door and heard a banging response. The officer then made his way into the restroom.

Officer Jackson quickly discovered that the female had hung herself with an X-Box controller cord on the shower head. The officer cut the cord to clear her airway and called for an ambulance.

The woman survived and was taken to St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital where she was provided with the proper help.
