Murfreesboro Police Arrest James Leggett

A convicted felon was arrested this weekend in Murfreesboro. James Leggett was taken into custody overnight Saturday in connection with a robbery in Nashville that ended with a Metro policeman being critically wounded and a teenager killed.

The 20-year old, along with 16-year old Xavier McDonald and another youth were confronted by Metro Police SWAT Team a week ago Sunday (12/14/2014) while allegedly in the process of a robbery on Long Hunter Court. Shots were exchanged, and Metro Officer John Downs was shot in the groin and McDonald was killed.

Murfreesboro Police arrested James Leggett overnight Saturday (12/20/2014) and charged him with aggravated robbery along with four counts of felony violation of probation. He is being held without bond. In addition to Leggett, police also arrested the other juvenile, who was charged with aggravated robbery.

According to a report from the Metro Nashville Police Department, Leggett was convicted in Criminal Court in October, 2013 of burglary, felony theft and felony marijuana possession. He received probated sentences.
