A purse snatching was reported on Monday in the parking lot of Walmart on Old Fort Parkway. The 57 year old victim and a witness made contact with officers directly after the incident unfolded around 6 in the evening.

As the victim was placing items into her vehicle, a man grabbed her purse that was sitting in the shopping cart and took off running. The subject ran to a waiting car and after jumping in the passenger seat, fled the scene.

Minutes later, MPD Officer Zachery Ferrell stopped a vehicle matching the description given by both the victim and the witness. The two suspects in the car admitted to stealing the purse and then taking the contents out before throwing the actual purse out the window while traveling down Medical Center Parkway.

Police later found the purse and returned it to the victim.

Rakeem Raymond and Terrence Frieson were arrested and charged with theft. The two remain behind bars as of Tuesday afternoon.
