The City of Murfreesboro has purchased a new patrol car for the police department. The new car model replaces the traditional Ford Crown Victoria police car. The new model is a Ford Interceptor. The Interceptor comes standard with an all-wheel drive system and a high performance six cylinder engine that gets much better gas mileage then past models. The Ford website shows the new car has 365-horsepower. According to an August 2012 Murfreesboro City Council Agenda, the car can be purchased from Ford of Murfreesboro at a price of $24,124.

According to Major Clyde Adkison, each shift is in the process of trying out the car to see how it handles and performs on the job before the department places graphics on a full fleet of cruisers.

The City of LaVergne also purchased several new police vehicles, including the Ford Interceptor this past January.
