A Murfreesboro Police detective laid to rest on Wednesday. You may recall several days ago we told you about the death of Murfreesboro Police Detective Lieutenant Charlie Goodloe. The veteran officer was found dead at his home last Wednesday (March 11, 2015).
While the death is being investigated by the TBI at the request of the Rutherford County Sheriff and District Attorney Jennings Jones, Sgt. Kyle Evans with the Police Department stressed, "According to preliminary reports, it does not appear that foul play is involved."

Murfreesboro Police Detective Lt., Charles Ray Goodloe, age 48 of Christiana died Wednesday March 11, 2015. He was a lifelong resident of Rutherford County and the son of the late Sam and Nancy Ellis Goodloe. Mr. Goodloe was a 1984 Graduate of Smyrna High School. He later joined the U. S. Army National Guard. After receiving an Honorable Discharge from the U.S. Army National Guard Mr. Goodloe went to Emergency Medical Technician School at Volunteer State Community College. He also worked for the LaVergne Police Department as a Police Dispatcher. He then attended Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy, graduating in 1990. Mr. Goodloe started his 25 year career at the Murfreesboro Police Department as a Traffic Officer, later became a Motorcycle Officer, and then became a member of the Fatal Accident Crash Team. He became a Member of the Special Operations Unit in 1995 and was currently Assistant Commander of Special Operations. Mr. Goodloe was promoted to Detective in 1997, Detective Sergeant in 2004, and Detective Lieutenant in 2011. Throughout his career at the Murfreesboro Police Department he attended many Specialized Schools to enhance his knowledge and skills. Most recently he graduated from the Southeastern Command and Leadership Academy (SECLA) - The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga - March 6, 2015.
