Charges of "Tampering with Evidence" were filed against a 27-year old Murfreesboro man after police saw him run a stop sign on both Castle Street and State Street. Officer C. Phillips followed the driver to an address on Mercury Boulevard where the arrest was made. While on the scene, a passerby informed Officer Phillips that the driver threw several items out of the 1997 Buick sedan while police were attempting to stop him, thus the charge of "Tampering with Evidence."

Once stopped, police recovered a glass pipe and a bag containing a white powdery substance. Casey Lucas admitted to Officer Phillips that the white powdery substance was heroin that he had just purchased on Castleview Court in Murfreesboro. Police later located $2,000 in counterfeit money that Lucas claimed to have received from an unknown black male.

As it turned out, Lucas was also wanted for violating his probation and he even had a felony warrant in Smyrna for "Strong Armed Robbery."

Before police hauled Lucas to jail, they asked to search his cellphone. According to the report, "Mr. Lucas denied consent to search the contents of his Apple iPhone therefore it was seized for the purpose of obtaining a search warrant to retrieve information regarding the purchases of previous narcotic deals."

As of Monday afternoon, Lucas is still behind bars and has not made bond.
