A man who was said to be inside the home was taken to the hospital, his name was not released.

The Tennessee Bomb and Arson squad of the State Division of Fire Prevention is investigating the fire. 

The City of LaVergne sent media the following information:

The victim of the Monday morning fire at 313B Old Nashville Highway has been positively identified by the State Medical Examiner’s Office.  Melinda Edwards, age 46, perished in the fire.  No information is available about her specific cause of death.
 
Fire and police were dispatched to the scene at 6:28 a.m.  Upon arrival, police reported there was a “heavy fire” in progress.  Because of the fatality, the state Bomb and Arson Investigation team of the State Division of Fire Prevention was called.  The division is called to investigate all fire related deaths.
