New Bill Requires Carbon Monoxide Detectors in Leased RV's in Tennessee

September 18th is carbon monoxide awareness day in Tennessee.  Carbon monoxide is a silent killer.  It’s an invisible and odorless gas created from fuels like kerosene….coal….and propane used in camp stoves, heaters and portable generators.  Carbon monoxide kills without warning.  Never use barbecue grills or gas lanterns indoors….keep your portable generator well-ventilated and away from openings in tents, campers and RV’s.  And always have a working carbon monoxide detector in your home or camper to keep you and your family safe from the silent killer.

A Tennessee Bill now requires working carbon monoxide detectors in leased or rented recreational vehicles. It was named after five people who died from carbon monoxide poisoning last year at a bike rally in Clarksville, Tennessee. Gov. Haslam signed the bill into law in 2012.
