Widow Janet Hawkins seeks justice for her husband, Gregg, who was killed Oct. 16 while fishing with his daughter at Mona Boat Ramp.

Rutherford County Sheriff's Detective Kyle Norrod believes Gregg Hawkins was shot and killed while interrupting vehicle burglaries at the boat ramp while his daughter waited near the boat landing. He worked at Nissan and was an avid sportsman.

"It's just been six months of total devastation and sorrow," Hawkins said. "Our daughters, Brandi and Logan, had such an involved father. My loving husband has just been taken away."

She hopes electronic billboards posted seeking information about his murder will encourage someone to report information to investigating Detective Norrod at 615-904-3043.

Lamar Advertising posted the billboards Tuesday at Northwest Broad Street and Old Nashville Highway in Murfreesboro, Waldron Road and U.S. Highway 41 (New Nashville Highway) in La Vergne and Interstate 24 at Bell Road.

The billboard shows a photograph of Hawkins and daughter, Brandi. A reward of $50,000 is offered leading to the arrest and conviction of the murderer.

"We just need people to come forward," Hawkins said. "I want to thank Lamar. This has been a huge blessing in our lives."

Detective Norrod said he hopes the billboard will get people's attention.

"We ask for any information," Detective Norrod said. "We want to bring some answers for this family."

People with information may also call Rutherford County Crime Stoppers at 615-893-STOP between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
