You heard that new homes built after July 1, 2014 in La Vergne must have a fire sprinkler system. Will this requirement spread to other areas?

Thursday, May 29, 2014, was a day that will live in infamy for La Vergne. The town council voted 4 to 1 mandating that homes built after July 1st must have sprinkler systems.

This was opposed by many contractors, some citizens and even State Representative Mike Sparks commented . . .

A WGNS' listener phoned to make an emotional plea in support of fire sprinklers in new homes . . .

A local contractor called the radio station to share his opinion . . .

This is not the first time this issue has arisen in Rutherford County, but La Vergne is the only municipality to give a thumbs UP to the it. The question now is will requirements be approved to install fire sprinkler systems to new homes being built in other parts of this county?
