Dan Whittle photo exhibit at Arts Center of Cannon County
May 25-June 30, 2012 Dan Whittle's photo art is on display at the Arts Center of Cannon County (1424 John Bragg Highway in neighboring Woodbury). Admission is free to the Marly Berger Gallery. This well known journalist-photographer-author has creative nature photos and captures life in action through the lens of his camera. Middle Half Marathon
Sat. (Oct. 13, 2012) 7AM 6th Annual Middle Half Marathon and Murph's Fun Run. The 13.1-mile course starts and stops at MTSU's Dean Hayes Track and Soccer Stadium and the course is around the beautiful flat and tree-lined Murfreesboro historic district. The Murfreesboro Half Marathon course has been certified as accurate in measurement according to the standards adopted by the USATF Road Running Technical Council. Nikki Giovanni: "Life in the Bottoms"
Tue (May 29, 2012) 5:30PM Renowned social activist and poet Nikki Giovanni will speak at New Vision Baptist Church (1750 N. Thompson Lane). "Life In The Bottoms" is the final part of MTSU's 2012 local history series. The evening begins with a barbecue dinner at 5:30PM. Then at 6:30PM oral history reports from the field school will be presented. New Industry in La Vergne

A leading manufacturer in the plumbing industry is holding its grand opening on Friday, December 16th at 10:30 a.m. in La Vergne. HOLDRITE®, located at 1001 Centre Pointe Drive, is expected to bring a total of 35 new jobs to the city within the next five years.

The company manufactures pipe support and alignment bracket systems. HOLDRITE expanded from one building in California to three new facilities throughout the country, including the LaVergne location.

“The new locations will allow the business to better leverage the HOLDRITE brand while helping us to continue to provide superior service,” said Michelle Hubbard, founder and owner of the manufacturing company. The expansion will increase the business square footage by 20 percent.
