A possible new park on the west side of Murfreesboro was the big topic at the July 25th meeting of the Murfreesboro City Council.  Rumors of the park have been heavily mentioned this week, including on local television news, and the demeanor of communications between Parks and Recreation officials and council members seems to indicate a real interest in moving forward.

Councilman Shane McFarland believes the economic benefits the park could bring as a host for sports tournaments is undeniable.

Council also completed some other minor agenda items, such as approving a roof replacement for the Cason Lane Fire Station, passing the pay raise for School Board members first mentioned last month, and scheduling multiple public hearings for rezonings and annexations across the city.  Those hearings are all scheduled to occur at the August 22nd meeting,.  If you are interested in attending, the specifics can be found at MurfreesboroTN.gov.
