Pods are where tellers will do their work, and customers can walk around that area. The electronic system will not only double-check math on all deposits, it also determines if any of the cash is counterfeit. FirstBank is putting the finishing touches on its Salem Cove branch at 2670 Salem Highway in the Publix shopping area.

Vice President and Financial Center Manager Tory Dahlenburg (left photo) told WGNS News how this new FirsBank branch opens the door to a new era in customer convenience . . .

Teller-pods have been tested in other markets for about two-years. We asked Dahlenburg about customer reactions . . .

He also noted that it will be impossible for the teller to remove money from the vault beneath the pod. This gives added security to a customer's money.

Dahlenburg noted, "We've test marketed the high-tech teller pods and have heard many positive comments from customers. It gives customers an opportunity to interact more freely with FirstBank representatives."

Bank Opens October 21st

The new FirstBank branch opens its doors on Monday, October 21st, but community celebrations will not begin until the ribbon cutting at 5:00 o'clock Thursday afternoon, November 14th. Special family activities are set for Saturday, November 16th from 10:00 in the morning until 2:00 that afternoon.

The interior is modern with rounded walls made of floor to ceiling glass giving a spacious feel to the lobby area.

City President Ben Weatherford (left photo) commented . . .

The drive-through lanes have pneumatic tubes that go to the teller-pods inside the main lobby. Rather than have one person trying to service three lanes of motoring clients, all tellers would be able to help and reduce the amount of time it takes for a customer to complete their transaction.

Weatherford noted, "Our customers are neighbors and friends, and we listen to their ideas on ways FirstBank can better serve them."

FirstBank's Salem Cove Branch is located in front of Publix grocery store and beside McDonald's at 2670 Salem Highway.
