A 22-year old man accused of killing another man outside of a home on Lakeshore Drive in 2011 will appear in court on June 17th in Rutherford County. Brandon Buchanan allegedly shot and killed Bruce Thomas.

Looking back, it was the third and final homicide of 2011 when 32-year old Bruce B. Thomas of Rutherford Boulevard was shot and killed on Lakeshore Drive in Murfreesboro. Days after the December 2011 shooting, Sargent Kyle Evans told us the suspect involved in the shooting was believed to be affiliated with a gang and that the murder was over a dispute involving a female.

According to the arrest report of Buchanan, Detective Yates wrote, “on 12/16/11, it was determined through investigation that Brandon D. Buchanan did intentionally, and with pre-meditation, shoot Bruce Thomas, killing him.”

Buchanan, who lives on South Baird Lane, will appear in general sessions court on June 17th. He is being held in the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center without bond.
