22 Year old Murfreesboro man arrested for 1st Degree Murder from 2011

It was the third and final homicide of 2011 when 32-year old Bruce B. Thomas of Rutherford Boulevard was shot and killed on Lakeshore Drive in Murfreesboro. Days after the December 2011 shooting, Sargent Kyle Evans told us the suspect involved in the shooting was believed to be affiliated with a gang and that the murder was over a dispute involving a female.

WGNS has learned that an arrest has been made this month in that case. Arrested was 22-year old Brandon D. Buchanan (pictured). According to the arrest report, Detective Yates wrote, “on 12/16/11, it was determined through investigation that Brandon D. Buchanan did intentionally, and with pre-meditation, shoot Bruce Thomas, killing him.” Buchanan was officially charged with first degree murder this past week.

Buchanan, who lives on South Baird Lane, will appear in general sessions court on February 19. He is being held in the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center without bond.
