THP Needs Public Help With "Hit and Run" Case

The Tennessee Highway Patrol is seeking the public’s assistance for information on an apparent hit-and-run pedestrian fatality in Humphreys County. A body was discovered in the median of Interstate 40 near mile marker 137 during the early morning hours on Saturday.

A passerby reported the discovery to the Humphreys County Sheriff’s Office, who was the first responders to the scene. They requested the THP to continue the investigation. Upon State Troopers arrival and their initial investigation, it was determined that the victim had been struck by a vehicle. Investigators also believe the incident may have occurred at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The body was discovered on Saturday morning.

The victim has been identified as Janice D. Kelley, 45, of Nashville. 

THP’s Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) and Criminal Investigation Division (CID) are investigating.
