Junior League of Murfreesboro is seeking new female members

The Junior League of Murfreesboro is currently seeking women to join its 2013 New Member class and will hold an informational meeting at 6:30 p.m. on February 18 at Maple Street Grill's Uncorked, located at 109 North Maple Street in Mufreesboro. Those attending will learn more about the organization’s mission, membership requirements and have an opportunity to network with current Junior League members.

“Our New Member class plays a vital role in shaping the future of our Junior League,” said Meagan Flippin, this year’s New Member Chair. “We are seeking a diverse group of women who are interested in building a better community.”

Area nonprofit organizations that have benefitted from the Junior League of Murfreesboro include Greenhouse Ministries, Special Kids and the Child Advocacy Center. Currently, the organization boasts more than 140 active members.

Founded locally in 1992, the Junior League of Murfreesboro explores the needs of the community and concentrated on focus areas such as women and children at risk, educational disadvantages, health, voluntarism and quality of life. The organization establishes and affiliates with projects and programs to address those focus areas by providing trained volunteers and financial assistance.

The Junior League of Murfreesboro is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.  Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.

The Junior League of Murfreesboro is a member of the Association of Junior Leagues International, Inc. (AJLI).  There are 294 Junior Leagues throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico and Great Britain with a collective membership of almost 200,000 women.
