Rutherford County woman scammed in CraigsList car purchase

We have another CraigsList scam to bring you up-to-date on. On Wednesday, a woman called the authorities in Murfreesboro to report that she had been scammed out of several thousand dollars.

According to the report, the woman found a car that she wanted to purchase on CraigsList. The car was supposedly in Nashville and the seller wanted $2,900. It was a 2008 Honda Accord. The woman says she paid for the car online and an additional $1,900 was added to her fees and charged to her. The extra fees were tacked on as shipping and insurance charges.

You may be asking the question, “did she actually get the car?” The answer is “no,” she never got the car. The victim said the person she allegedly sent the money to is named Brittany and lives in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The case is being investigated.
