A woman who lives in another city, yet operates a personal massage business in Murfreesboro, has been accused of running an illegal massage parlor that employ’s women who sell sex as one of their services, according to a MPD Incident Report filed on Monday (6/24/13 - see incident report number below).

At this point, WGNS will not be releasing the name of the female who spoke to police on Monday because the case currently appears to be under investigation. We can however tell you that according to a Murfreesboro Police Incident Report, the woman who called the police stated, “There are several females inside of the building that are providing sex for money.”

The report goes on to say that the name of the business recently changed from Truu-Bluu to Studio 12.  WGNS looked into the name change and phoned (6/25/13) the Massage Board of Tennessee where we spoke to Kimberly Hodge. We were told by Hodge that she could not verify if a name change had taken place at Truu-Bluu. Hodge referred us to the Department of Health and their public relations department. WGNS phoned that department, but at this point, we have not been able to confirm a legal name change. The public service division of the state called WGNS back on Tuesday afternoon and told us they are looking into the matter. They also told WGNS they would check on any outstanding investigations going on that were open to the public and considered public record. 

Meanwhile, WGNS called the reported owner of the massage business located at 1231 NW Broad Street and left a message for Judy Cunningham to call us back. At this point, we have not received a return phone call. If Cunningham calls WGNS back, we welcome the opportunity to clear the air and give her side of the story to our listeners. We also phoned at least one of the therapist working at the facility to discuss the allegations. Again, no call back at this point. 

In the meantime, the Murfreesboro Police case involving a man accused of sexually assaulting a female during a massage will head to the courtroom on July 9th. In that case, a 21-year old victim told police she got a coupon to visit Truu Bluu and when she visited the facility she met with 24-Year old Augustus F. Ogiste II. The woman who filed the incident report with the Murfreesboro Police Department told officers the man inappropriately touched her during a massage session. After an investigation into the accusations, Ogiste was arrested and charged with sexual battery and impersonation of a licensed professional. He was supposedly working at Truu Bluu without a license to practice massage therapy.

Further Updated on Wednesday Afternoon 6/26/13:

We have learned that the facility did change their name from Truu Bluu to Studio 12. Bill Christian, Associate Director of Communications and Media Relations at the Tennessee Department of Health told WGNS the name change has been received but is not complete and has not been processed yet. We asked Christian if any discipline actions have been taken against Studio 12 or Truu Bluu. He told us, “Truu Bluu Massage’s license has not been disciplined and no notice of charges has been filed.”
