Shacklett also tells how electronic libraries and community space is getting popular in some states, and she hopes Murfreesboro will offer the first service of this type in Tennessee.

Murfreesboro Vice Mayor Ron Washington commented:

"Listening to Rita Shacklett on WGNS and as you know they have wants and needs for expansion, as does the St. Clair Street Senior Center.

These have been issues, since I was on the Library Board. What are your thoughts?

I know both are frustrating issues. There is still a place for libraries in our communities that technology cannot address. I think Rita may need to also do a lot of research and find out creative ways other libraries around the nation have reinvented themselves to become even more relevant for their communities.

With Linda Burt retiring, that will probably give the council some reprieve on new location issues for the Senior Center.

Parks & Rec Director Lanny Goodwin does not like to hear me bring it up, but there is property at the Barfield site for a complex that might be able to be shared uses. . ."
