There was a double motorcycle crash Saturday afternoon at 4:30 in the eastbound lane of State Route 840 at mile marker 46 near the Almaville exit.

Tennessee Highway Patrol Lieutenant Bill Miller told NewsRadio WGNS that the rear wheel locked on a 1998 Suzuki motorcycle driven by 49-year old Carlette Smith of Clarksville. She slid into the lane of a 2005 Kawasaki driven by 55-year old Craig Lluelwell Bell of Madison. Both motorcycles slid to an uncontrollable stop on the right shoulder of the roadway.

Both were taken by LifeFlight helicopter to the Vanderbilt Trauma Center.

A spokesperson at Vanderbilt Hospital told WGNS that Carlette Smith is now in stable condition.

The hospital noted that Bell was not listed in their patient registry.

When asked about this, Lt. Miller responded, "At this time we have not been made aware of any updates to this crash."
