TN May Remove Statute of Limitations on Crimes of Child Rape

A new bill introduced to legislators this month removes the statute of limitations on crimes of child rape, if the crime was committed after July 1, 2012. The Department of Corrections estimates a five percent increase in inmate admissions for these offenses as a result of the statute of limitations being removed. Although it has not yet been passed, it has been placed on the calendar for the Judiciary Committee to review on February 21st.
