One of the early persons who helped get the local hands-on museum started and long-time board member has been named the new Chief Executive Officer of the Discovery Center at Murfree Spring. Tara MacDougall's new duties begin Monday (6/4/2012).
Founding Director Billie Little will remain as a creative advisor at the beautiful facility at 502 Southeast Broad Street at Maney Avenue.
WGNS will be featuring a special series on the Discovery Center at Murfree Springs, along with Action Line broadcasts featuring leadership from the facility that began in an old home on Maple Street in 1986. That first year saw attendance at a little over 11,000 persons. Now, 25-years later--more than 120,000 visitors yearly enjoy the spacious modern facility that features a variety of educational exhibits and displays. The unique boardwalk system through the historic Murfree Spring wetlands is a popular feature at the Discovery Center.
