Sheriff Offers Mobile Phone App

There's an smart phone app for just about every need.  Now the Rutherford County Sheriffs Office offers a free mobile app to allow citizens to receive information about Rutherford County Adult Detention Center. Sheriff Robert Arnold told WGNS that the apps are available for both Android and HTC phones.

The mobile app is available through Appriss Go Mobile is free on Google Play store by searching for TN Rutherford SO. The app now gives the name, booking photo, address, charges and bond about the suspect.

Also, the app gives a directory of sheriff’s office general phone numbers, Most Wanted criminals, warrants and child support warrants. More information will be added.

“This app will make public information about the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office more accessible to our citizens,” Sheriff Arnold said.“The app greatly improves our ability to serve citizens.”

The app is also fully integrated with the county’s victim notification service, VINE (Victim Information and Notification Everyday).

“We know that more and more people are getting the information they need from their Smart phones,” said Sheriff Arnold. “We want to make sure we’re using the latest communication technology to keep citizens informed, and this app lets us do that.” 

Detective Capt. Larry Pace said Appriss officials presented idea of using the app to him and Sheriff Arnold agreed it would be a good tool to communicate with citizens.

“This provides information where people may want to check on family, friends and acquaintances to see if they’re in jail or not,” Capt. Pace said.

Patrol officers in the field may look up photos of inmates or wanted suspects.

Although the app is free, attorneys and bondsmen may advertise on the site.
