Unemployed Workers Increase!

Just as things were lucking better, unemployed workers here in Rutherford County showed an increase in June. May's figure was 6.9 per cent, but June's tally showed 7.4 per cent. 

Despite the increase, Rutherford County still made it in the "Top 10 Lowest Unemployment Counties" for the state.  Murfreesboro's June unemployment numbers were 7.7 per cent, which is a 7-tenth of a per cent increase from the previous month. Smyrna was also 7.7 per cent, up from 7.4 per cent. La Vergne was unchanged at 7.6 per cent.

Of the metro area of the Volunteer State, Knox County had the lowest unemployment with 6.7 per cent. Even at that, that's a seven-tenth per cent increase compared to May. The other metro areas in their ranking of workers without jobs include Davidson at 7.3 per cent, Hamilton with 8.3 per cent, and Shelby County with the biggest problem with 9.7 per cent of its workforce unemployed.
