The Department of Art at Middle Tennessee State University announces the launch of the Todd Art Gallery’s opening exhibition for spring semester 2013. Entitled 12x12: A National Juried Exhibition of Small Scale Works of Art, it will serve as the fourth such exhibition of its kind at MTSU since 2006. Proving that great things do come in smaller packages, as exampled by the juried selections of three previous 12x12’s, Gallery Director Eric Snyder said “We are confident that this exhibit will provide an excellent sampling of the variety and diversity of artwork being produced across the United States.”  Continuing Snyder stated that “Art Chair Jean Nagy, Gallery Committee members, and department staff have worked vigorously to increase campus and community awareness for the exhibit while also increasing the number of exhibit awards and prize money available for this next chapter of 12x12's history.”

Further, it was announced that 12X12 will evolve from its current schedule placement of every other year to once every three years and will rotate with a planned Shoebox Sculpture Exhibit and a Graphic Design Poster Exhibition. All three will follow 12x12’s original premise as a national competition to showcase and highlight the very best of fine art and graphic design produced by today’s working artists.
